My Two Cents...Again

Are you surprised it too me this long to weight in on Sarah Palin? You knew it was only a matter of time. I'll be quite honest with you when I say that she terrifies me. At first, I thought it was a brilliant move on McCain's part to choose a woman as his running mate, but that was before I had the chance to do a little research. Sarah Palin is not someone I want as our Vice President, nor is she someone I want as my President. Her lack of experience, knowledge and leadership abilities is mind-boggling. She once voted against funding for a program that would unwed teen mothers. Now her daughter is an unwed teen mother. I know, people are saying to leave the families out of this. Which I agree. Her daughter is not running for office, but her daughter does represent a demographic that her mother has long since detested.

If her husband is a big oil executive and she wants to be vice president, who exactly is going to raise her infant child? I'm all for working mothers and I'm all for women in office, but I also think that children that young need more constant parental guiddance. It's not like Sarah will go to work at 8 every day and return home at 5. It's not like her husband has a regular day job anyway. This baby will most likely be raised by nannies. I think that there should be a limit on how young the children of a presidential or vice presidential candidate can be. How can you stand up at a podium and address the nation about parents and about family values when someone else is raising your own infant children? Don't even get me started on the fact that Sarah Palin thinks rape victims should pay for their own rape kits. How can a woman with daughters really feel this way??

Sarah Palin thinks we should go to war with Russia. Sarah Palin doesn't know what the Bush Doctrine is. Sarah Palin did so much dancing around the subject in her last interview that Charlie actually had to tell her he was getting lost in a blizzard of words when he was asking a simple yes or no question. Now we're supposed to applaud her because her son is in the Army and he was recently deployed to Iraq. So what? I was in the Army. I went to Iraq. My cousin is on his second tour of Iraq. My mom and my Aunt Peggy didn't get any special treatment or standing ovations for our service to our country. Rumor has it, her son was quite the partier up in Alaska and that the Army was a way for him to quickly remove himself from the situation. When I was in the Army, we hated those kinds of soldiers. The ones who were made to join by their parents or the police. They were always the ones who were not team players, had no interest in being a team player and also had no sense of duty, honor or country. However, he is a VP candidates son. I can guarantee you that he is getting special treatment. Should she actually get elected, he will then be surrounded by secret service agents and he will never have the true Army experience.

Sarah Palin has and will vote against every single type of gay rights ever brought to the board. As far as she is concerned, gay people can be converted to straight. This just shows her level of ignorance. For those of us who are gay, we know that we were born this way. What three year old kid chooses to be gay? I was raised Catholic and I used to pray every single night that God would make me straight. It didn't happen. However, when I started praying for God to give me strength to accept me the way he made me, that was what I got. Remember, God made each and every one of us in his image, so for any human being to be so arrogant to think that they need to change us, remember it will be God you will eventually have to answer to. Having this woman in the white house will set America back a long way.

She is NOT a feminist in way whatsoever. I know quite a few feminists and she is about as far away from one as you can get. If this woman gets into the White House and God Forbid, ends up President, then everything we feared from the 50's to the 80's will probably come true. We will enter back into the Cold War. If we go to war with Russia, it will be the war we saw in movies like "War Games" and "The Day After." A few buttons will be pushed and nuclear bombs will anhilate both countries and most of the world. Welcome to world destruction. We cannot let this woman into the White House.

For a party that is so big on "family values," these candidates seem to have a hard time practicing what they preach. McCain is on his second wife....so much for til death do us part. Guiliani is on his 97th wife, had multiple affairs and can't finish a sentence without the term "9/11." I personally don't find anything wrong with divorce. If the marriage is over, then end it. Just don't run around preaching Christian Family Values when you continually violate them yourself.

Do I think Obama is perfect? I do not. I'm one of those people who feels like I end up voting for the lesser of two evils. I think Obama is a much more eloquent speaker and he seems to be the type of person who could actually unite and lead the majority of the nation. I honestly believe that he's our best chance at getting America back on track.

Changing the subject:

I'm getting excited for my 40th Birthday Celebration. It seems I may have a few out of state guests coming. Not sure if it will remain a surprise or if they'll fess up prior to. Drew, Jes and Russ are doing a kick ass job getting things together. Drew did a great job on the evite. If you didn't get an evite, send me your email address and I'll make it happen. If Dave and his wife from Philly (he wrote the book Time Well Wasted, see review below) don't make it for my bday, they'll come up in November and then I will go to Philly on Dec 6 to join him and his friends at the Army Navy game. That will be my first time at the Army Navy game and obviously being a Desert Storm (101st Airborne/Air Assault) Veteran, I will be rooting for the Army.
