Autumn has arrived and it's a beautiful time to live in Maine. The weather is warm during the day and cool and crisp at night. We broke out our hoodies and sweaters and Jacob the Border Collie is starting to grow his winter coat. The trees are on fire with the leave changing colors. The above picture is of me in Rangeley Maine last fall at Betsy's house. As fall is a time for change, things are really changing for everyone! Lance and Mike are moving back to Portland. YAY! Since Russ and I haven't found a place to buy yet, we're going to take a winter rental over by Willard Beach.
It's a big old New England house a week from a private beach--which we have access to. I am so looking forward to being so close to the ocean for the winter. It's a photographer's dream! And then by next May we'll have our own place to settle into for the long haul. Which also means that Jake gets a puppy. Russ got an awesome job with Verizon. He's finally back on track in the I.T. world making the kind of money he's worth. So he's leaving Time Warner Cable, which means we have to say good bye to all the free cable we have. We'll survive as long as I have HBO and Showtime On Demand. I can't miss shows like Weeds, Brotherhood, Dexter and Big Love.
Speaking of tv, you should be tuning into "Heroes" on NBC. I was hooked once I saw the previews and the first 2 episodes have completely lived up to my expectations. I'm also excited because one of my best friends is on the show. He makes his debut in mid to late October as D.L. Hawkins. His name is Leonard Roberts and we were best friends in college at The Theatre School in Chicago. You may remember him from movies like "Drumline" and "Love Jones." He also played the character of "Forest" on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." He was in the season with Riley and the military commando unit. He's really excited about "Heroes" and I can see why.
Our bar manager at Springstreet, Mark, moved to Vermont. We had his going away party last Friday night. I designed the "Oscar the Grouch" shirt for him, as a response to a particular grouchy night he had.
The rest of us wore shirts that said, "Mark Lanoue is My Homeboy." We'll definitely miss him though. He was one of my first friends here in Portland years ago. I wish him the best of luck.I really should be in bed, but I spent the evening working on graphic design projects for the bars, so I'm a bit creatively wired. I think they came out pretty good. Let me know what you think!

And a big thank you to Lance. For my upcoming birthday, he got us 12th row DEAD center tickets for Olivia Newton-John on Oct 26th in Lowell, MA.
I honestly think I'm more excited than when I saw Madonna. She has always been one of my favorite female singers. Hell, she's so cool that Madonna copied her Xanadu look for most of the promos and videos for her last album and tour! The pic is something I designed for a t-shirt. I'll be wearing it to her concert. Thank you Lance! My birthday falls on a Monday this year, so we're going to celebrate it on the Wed the 25th at the bar. My friend Andi Fawcett is doing an acoustic show there that night and she's one of my favorite female performers ever!
Have a great autumn!
